Mohanlalganj case- People’s faith in police lacking
Today I with husband Amitabh, social activists Amit Pandey, Anupam Pandey, Anand Vikram, Hafeez Kidwai, Vivek Shukla and Dharmendra Mishra visited Mohanlalganj scene of crime for on-the-spot study. Among other things we found that the village Chaukidar gave information after much delay, the information reached media-persons much ahead of police and the villagers are not much cooperating with police.
These facts state that adequate attention is not being paid to Chaukidar system and people seem to have more faith on media than police, hence there is an immediate need for the police to win the people’s confidence.
People’s Forum is studying the three serious women-related offences, including the recent Mohanlalganj brutal rape incidence, the Badaun twin murder case and the sexual assault-cum-murder case of a 4 years girl in Gomtinagar area, Lucknow a few months ago.

आज पीपल’स फोरम की ओर से मेरे,पति अमिताभ, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता अनुपम पाण्डेय, अमित पाण्डेय, हाफिज किदवई, विवेक शुक्ला, आनंद विक्रम, धर्मेन्द्र मिश्रा आदि द्वारा मोहनलालगंज में बलात्कार की घटना का मौके पर जा कर अध्ययन किया गया. इसमें अन्य बातों के अलावा यह पाया गया कि गाँव के चौकीदार द्वारा पुलिस को घटना की सूचना बहुत देरी से दी गयी, पुलिस को सूचना मिलने से पहले यह सूचना पत्रकारों को मिली और गाँव में लोगों ने पुलिस को इस घटना में कोई अधिक मदद नहीं किया.
इससे ऐसा जान पड़ा कि चौकीदारी व्यवस्था पर पर्याप्त ध्यान नहीं दिया जा रहा है और लोगों का पुलिस से अधिक भरोसा मीडिया पर है. अतः पुलिस को जनता का अपेक्षित विश्वास जीतने और उनके बीच अपनी पैठ बढाने की विशेष जरुरत महसूस हुई.
पीपल’स फोरम द्वारा मोहनलालगंज की घटना के अलावा बदायूं दोहरी हत्या तथा गोमतीनगर, लखनऊ में लगभग एक साल पहले चार साल की बच्ची की दुष्कर्म के बाद हत्या का अध्ययन किया जा रहा है.
