Weeping RTI activist case-
shot in emergency ward for exposing corruption
I and husband IPS officer Amitabh Thakur met Raj Kumar
Singh, RTI activist from Mau yesterday (26 July) who was attacked in emergency
ward in Mau, in BHU hospital.
When we met Raj Kumar, he narrated the entire story. He was
extremely terrified. He was also very much hurt by the inaction of the police.
In fact, he also wept like a child while stating his facts, which was very sad
and troublesome indeed.
Many important facts emerged in talks including the fact
that Sri Singh was twice attacked and regularly tortured only because of his
RTI activities against the Village Pradhan, that no action has yet been taken in
the FIR registered against the Pradhan in 2011, a Police Inspector Virendra
Tiwari put pressure on Raj Kumar to close the case and that even today the
accused Amit Singh is threatening the witness from jail.
We told Raj Kumar that we would talk to the concerned police
officers to ensure that at least two gun licences are sanctiuoned to Raj Kumar
and his brother, the accused Amit Singh is transferred to far away jail, the
police officers favouring Amit Singh are acted upon and the doctors who
deliberately conducted false medical examination on Raj Kumar.
We shall also ensure that
the 2011 FIR against village Pradhan is investigated fast. We do condemn this
attack on a true RTI activist and demand complete compliance of Government of
India directions for security of RTI activist by the UP government.
This is the sad aspect of
an RTI activist fighting for justice.

अमिताभ ठाकुर कल (26 July) मऊ के आरटीआई कार्यकर्ता राजकुमार सिंह, जिन्हें इमरजेंसी
वार्ड मऊ में गोली मारी गयी थी, से वाराणसी के बीएचयू अस्पताल में मिले.
जब हम राज कुमार से मिले तो
उन्होंने पूरी बात बतायी. वे बहुत डरे हुए थे. वे पूर्व में पुलिस की पूर्ण
निष्क्रियता पर बहुत आहात थे. यहाँ तक कि बातचीत में वे बच्चे की तरह रोने लगे, जो
अत्यंत दुखद था.
इस बातचीत में कई
महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य सामने आये जिसमे राजकुमार को ग्राम प्रधान के खिलाफ आरटीआई गतिविधियों
के कारण दो बार हमला होने, 2011 में प्रधान के खिलाफ घोटाले
की एफआईआर दर्ज होने के बाद भी आज तक कार्यवाही नहीं होने, एक पुलिस इन्स्पेक्टर
वीरेंद्र तिवारी द्वारा सुलह करने का दवाब बनाने और आज भी मुलजिम अमित सिंह के जेल
से मोबाइल से गवाहों को धमकी देने के मामले प्रमुख हैं.
हमने राज कुमार से कहा कि
हम सम्बंधित अधिकारियों से बात कर उन्हें दो असलहा लाइसेंस दिलवाने, मुलजिम अमित
सिंह को दूरस्थ जेल में ट्रांसफर कराने, अभियुक्तों की मदद करने वाले पुलिस अफसरों
पर कार्यवाही कराने और राज कुमार का फर्जी मेडिकल करने वाले डॉक्टरों के खिलाफ
कार्यवाही कराना सुनिश्चित करेंगे.
हम यह भी सुनिश्चित करेंगे
कि 2011 के एफआईआर में त्वरित विवेचना हो. साथ ही हम एक
सच्चे और निर्भीक आरटीआई कार्यकर्ता पर हमले की तीव्र निंदा करते हैं और यूपी सरकार से
भारत सरकार द्वारा आरटीआई कार्यकर्ताओं की सुरक्षा के सम्बन्ध में दिए निर्देशों
का पूर्ण पालन करने की मांग करते हैं.
एक आरटीआई कार्यकर्ता की यह
दुर्दशा अत्यंत चिंतनीय है.
